Joseph F. Hagan, Jr., MD, FAAP is Clinical Professor in Pediatrics at The Robert Larner, MD College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and UVM Children’s Hospital.  He is Co-Editor of The Bright Futures Guidelines, Third & Fourth Editions, the standard of preventive care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

Dr. Hagan served as American Academy of Pediatrics-Vermont Chapter Vice-President and President. He chaired the Academy’s national Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health, the Task Force on Terrorism, and the AAP Neurobehavioral Disorder Associated with Prenatal Alcohol Exposure Workgroup.

His commitment to the care of vulnerable children led Dr. Hagan to Chair the Citizen’s Advisory Board for the Vermont Department for Children and Families. He consults for the Commissioner on complex child protection cases and is consulting physician at the UVM Children’s Hospital ChildSafe Clinic. He practices and teaches primary care pediatrics in Burlington, Vermont.
