The Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID) is committed to supporting the optimal health of all children and adolescents by developing recommendations for diagnostics, treatment, and control measures of infectious diseases. The committee monitors new vaccine licensures and safety data to develop optimal vaccine recommendations; provides guidance on antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, as well as, responds to emerging infectious diseases and/or outbreaks in the United States. This work occurs in three subcommittees: 1. Antimicrobial Resistance and Stewardship, 2. Emerging Infections and Outbreak Response, and 3. Vaccine Policy and Vaccine Hesitancy. These subcommittees reflect the priorities of the committee and were developed in collaboration with internal and external partners.

To create AAP policies that represent the most current clinical practice for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in children and adolescents.
