The Payer Advocacy Advisory Committee addresses payment for pediatric services through education and advocacy. PAAC works with and supports the Pediatric Councils at the state level and communicates nationally and regionally with payers. As a subcommittee of the Committee on Child Health Financing (COCHF), PAAC assists COCHF in improving the financing of children's health care by examining payor issues and developing policies related to payment.
Mission
To assess the public and private payer sector and advocate for benefits coverage for pediatric services and payment for primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists, and pediatric surgeons.
Vision
- Engage payer support of the pediatric medical home model and Bright Futures Guidelines for preventive care.
- Work with key groups within the Academy on strategies to address and develop new payment models.
- Develop education programs and tools to strengthen members' contract negotiations with payers.
- Strengthen chapter pediatric councils in engaging payers on pediatric payment issues.
