SOTC Subcommittees

Subcommittee work is a fun way to get involved with the Section and the AAP, expand your resume and engage with members in the Section and the larger AAP. If you are interested in applying to serve on an SOTC subcommittee, please send a statement of interest, bio sketch or CV to [email protected].

Education – Are you interested in educating SOTC members, general AAP members and families about telehealth care? Activities:

• Planning telehealth care related educational content for the Section H-program and general sessions for the AAP National Conference
• Brainstorming new programs and services for SOTC members that involve telehealth related education and presenting these to the SOTC EC.
• Monitoring pediatric telehealth educational offerings and submit these for the SOTC listserv and/or newsletter
• Suggesting process improvements for the Subcommittee program as needed.

Policy -  Are you interested in giving feedback to the AAP on trusted sources of expert opinion on scientific principles and pediatric health care delivery such as policy statements, technical reports, and clinical report drafts that include telehealth care information? Members can obtain MOC2 credits for writing and reviewing policy! Activities:

• Review policy statements, clinical reports and technical reports (definitions below) authored by AAP groups other than SOTC that include/address telehealth care and require review by the Section.
• Review of policy statements, clinical reports and technical reports authored by SOTC.
• Suggest process improvements for the Subcommittee program as needed.

Membership Engagement and Communication – Are you interested in developing messaging for SOTC members to help members get to know one another, promote SOTC programming and volunteer opportunities in the AAP? Activities:

• Developing member communications for the SOTC listserv to include but not limited to member opportunities, AAP volunteer opportunities, resources on pediatric telehealth care and more.
• Sharing content ideas with newsletter editor.
• Brainstorming new ways for members to be engaged in the Section and presenting these to the SOTC EC.
• Submitting member-facing articles for the quarterly SOTC newsletter
• Review content on aap.org/telehealth and revise as needed.

Research – Are you interested in reviewing SOTC Research Grant applications, abstracts and expanding research programming for SOTC members to better understand the impact of telehealth care in pediatrics? Activities:

• Reviewing abstracts yearly for the AAP NCE SOTC Abstract Program, recommending to the abstract chair which abstracts should be oral and poster presentations, and suggesting process improvements for the program as needed.
• Reviewing and scoring SOTC Research Grant applications yearly, recommending to the SOTC Executive Committee which applications should be awarded, reviewing progress reports and providing feedback to previous grant awardees, and suggesting process improvements for the program as needed.
• Brainstorming new programs and services for SOTC members that involve telehealth research and presenting these to the SOTC EC.
• Monitoring pediatric telehealth research publications and submitting an article with research pearls or summaries for the quarterly SOTC newsletter
