National Affiliates of the American Academy of Pediatrics: in the uniformed services regardless of their global assignments; civilian consultants appointed by the uniformed services Surgeons General; civilians whose primary practice (50%) is with uniformed services beneficiaries, and retired or veteran uniformed service members.

Section Affiliate Members

In recognition of the critical role of multidisciplinary collaboration and partnership in the care of children of uniformed service members, the Section on Uniformed Services welcomes affiliate members including dentists, physician assistants and certified nurses, (who do not qualify as AAP National Affiliates) physicians (MD, DO) who provide 50% care to military-connected families who do not qualify for AAP membership, scientists, allied health professionals, epidemiologists, and public health practitioners (masters and doctoral level) who work in uniformed services pediatrics. Applicants must submit proper certification and/or licensure, as relevant to the individual’s field and a letter of recommendation from a licensed physician colleague demonstrating active engagement in uniformed services pediatrics.
Parents
“Parents” are defined as adults who are the primary caregiver and decision maker for a military-connected minor and work in military family advocacy. Applicants must be able to provide evidence that they are military-connected and are actively working (either paid or voluntarily) in military family advocacy. Acceptable verification materials include both a letter of support from a Section member and a personal statement, which are then submitted to the Section on Uniformed Services leadership for approval.
