Equitable access to sexual and reproductive health care, including comprehensive sex education, contraception, and abortion, is a critical component of adolescent health. Pediatric health clinicians play an important role in supporting and expanding access to sexual and reproductive health care for all adolescents and young adults.
Youth Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health
All adolescents deserve support that allows them to make informed and autonomous decisions about their sexuality and reproductive health. Pediatric health clinicians and advocates can play a critical role in expanding access to comprehensive sex education, contraception, and abortion for all youth.
At a time when equitable access to care is threatened, AAP continues to reaffirm its longstanding support for access to confidential, comprehensive reproductive health services for adolescents. Now more than ever, there is a critical need for national leadership and partnerships to advance equitable access to comprehensive sex education, contraception, and abortion for adolescents.
