According to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, a Key Driver Diagram (KDD) is a visual representation of factors that “drive” the achievement of an aim. The KDD shows the relationship between the aims (Key Action Statements), the primary drivers (sometimes called “key drivers”) that contribute directly to achieving the aim, and specific interventions or implementation strategies to address the drivers. The suggested interventions or implementation strategies are meant to be adapted or adopted in your healthcare setting to improve processes.
Please note: Here we have combined several KASs under three global aims. Not all of the drivers and interventions apply to every KAS, but all apply to each global aim.
