Bright Futures Preventive Services Quality Improvement Measures

Bright Futures provides a set of materials and measures to track and document preventive care activities and services. These resources facilitate engagement of pediatric health care professionals in performing QI activities at the practice level or in partnership with others at the state or community level that will improve preventive care and achieve outcomes related to the Bright Futures goals of disease prevention, risk and disease detection, and health promotion.

QI networks provides health care practices with support that enhances their ability to lead QI collaboratives to achieve measurable improvements in the health outcomes of children.

QI and Pediatric Residents

The Pediatric Residency Review Committee requires that all residents learn QI methods and participate in a QI project during their residency.

Medical Home and QI Resources

The AAP National Resource Center for Patient/Family-Centered Medical Home provides tools and strategies to evaluate pediatric clinician performance and the patient/family perspective regarding the quality of care. Bright Futures is the health promotion/disease prevention part of the medical home. And at the heart of the medical home is the relationship between the clinician and the family or youth.
