Financial Conflicts of Interest Policy and Report

The AAP must ensure independence and transparency in the conduct and publication of its scientific research. For all research conducted for or on behalf of the AAP for which Public Health Service or other governmental funding is sought or has been obtained, or which is funded or otherwise sponsored or conducted by the AAP, the AAP adheres to the regulations appearing at 42 CFR Part 50, Subpart F, entitled “Promoting Objectivity in Research.” To this end, the AAP has established a written Financial Conflict of Interest Policy to promote objectivity in its research by establishing standards that provide a reasonable expectation that the design, conduct, and reporting of all such AAP-sanctioned research will be free from bias resulting from Investigator Financial Conflicts of Interest. All Investigators will be required to complete an annual AAP Financial Conflict of Interest Reporting Form for Research Projects (which shall include current Conflicts of Interest and Conflicts of Interest that existed within the previous 12 months), and they shall comply with this Policy and the AAP Financial Conflict of Interest Policy, including the requirement to immediately disclose any potential conflict which has not previously been disclosed.²
